Take a leisurely walk on the beach and revel in the feel of fine sand tickling your bare feet. Wander past beautiful shells washed by the waves and small crabs scurrying to the safety of their underground homes. Coconut trees sway in the cool Caribbean breezes casting shadows that tempt you to just stop, relax or have a picnic and listen to the sound of the waves crashing against the reef.Tobacco Caye has been inhabited since the time of the Maya; this beautiful island sits on the main Barrier reef, which is washed by huge waves created by the ocean currents that get channeled in between Glovers Reef and Lighthouse Reef. All that energy gets further channeled by Turneffe to create some of the most pristine reef in the Caribbean Sea. This reef runs for 13 miles unbroken, then breaks at Tobacco Caye with a wide channel that's 40' deep on our side and makes it perfect for shore diving with lots of fish and eagle rays, the occasional turtle, shark, or manatee; you will find that from March to October, a huge school of tarpon hangs in the channel all day every day, some of them over 6'and they will hang close if you are scuba diving.

Reef's End Lodge sits on the south end of Tobacco Caye and offers 8 clean comfortable rooms and 3 Cabanas on the beach and a reliable array of services; you can learn to dive or snorkel, do an adventure dive, kayak, tour the nearby islands in search of the elusive manatees or crocodiles, snorkel other locations without going too far, or just visit Bird Caye where the magnificent frigate bird and the Boobies roost.
Or, if you prefer, snorkel and just relax.
